Description
Mid-19th century Staffordshire spaniel with muted black-and-white coloring and those unforgettable golden-yellow eyes. Hand-painted c.1850, the figure shows finely molded fur, a gilt collar, and that wonderfully naive charm collectors love in early Staffordshire pottery. Originally meant to sit on a mantel or in a cottage window, these loyal dogs signaled both welcome and watchfulness. This example carries all the right signs of age — surface crazing, firing marks, and gentle wear that make it a true survivor with character.
